Transportation Methods on Abnormal Loads 2 ( HANDLING )

What is Handling?

The entire transportation chain includes several transport modes, locations, and hand works. It wouldn’t be wrong if we named the handling process as all the hand works made during the transfer between the transport modes and storage locations.

That means all transport modes are connected to each other with at least one handling process.

In order to place the handing in the entire transportation chain it is necessary to make a transportation chain definition briefly.

Therefore HANDLING might be named as every kind of process being followed in between in each mode of transport, storage areas and lands and hand over processes which capture lashing, lifting, securing, stowing, assembly, disassembly, surveying and quality control.

Please also note that surveys, inspections, certifications, permissions, risk analysis should be considered as in the context of each Handling Type.
Hence HANDLING amount and quality define the success on transportation.

Why is the amount of handling process important?

In fact there are lots of variables that may affect the quality of the transportation besides handling such as the dimensions, qualifications of subcontractors, certifications on auxiliary materials, experienced surveyors, locations etc… Due to minimizing the risk on transportation, handling amount stays as a most essential variable in the entire transportation chain beside the others. In other words more handling you make more damages you get.
